Tracing Service of the RCRS as a public authority given by law, performs tasks of Tracing Service envisaged in the Book of Rules of Tracing Service which was approved by the Government of the Republic of Srpska in February 2008. These tasks are restoring family links broken due to war in BiH or elsewhere, natural or man-made disasters, as well as in peacetime for other reasons which give humanitarian character to restoring family links.

Since there are still lots of missing and unidentified persons, Tracing Service of the RCRS cooperates with Republican organization of families of killed and captured combatants and missing civilians, Association of families of missing persons, Association of prisoners of RS, Association of women war victims, Combatants organization, Republican Centre for research of the war, war crimes and missing persons, Ministry of Interior of RS, ICRS, Institute for missing persons, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations which deal with this issue.

Tracing Service provides the following services:

  • Submitting family news
  • Exchange of RC Massages
  • Receipt  and processing of a missing request
  • Tracing persons who went missing in previous wars
  • Restoring families
  • Sending personal documents
  • Provide certificates from existing archives related to past wars

Beneficiaries of the Tracing Service can be:

  • Families of persons who went missing in past wars
  • Ex detainees
  • Internally displaced persons
  • Refugees
  • Children without parents
  • Asylum seeker
  • Migrants
  • Other categories according to their needs

Tracing Service provides support to families during identification process in transport and psycho-social support in identification-centers. This support is provided  to families by trained personnel.
